Satellite images showed that Israeli forces paved a main road in the Gaza Strip along the Philadelphia axis.
The images analyzed by the BBC reveal the paving of a road extending for approximately 6 and a half kilometers, starting from the coast along the border fence.
A video posted online on September 4 also showed construction work said to have taken place that day along a stretch of the border fence.
For his part, the former head of the Israeli Shin Bet, Nadav Argaman, revealed the reason for Tel Aviv’s insistence on remaining in the Philadelphia axis, which separates the Gaza Strip from Egypt.
Argaman said, in an interview with Israeli Channel 12, that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists on remaining in the Philadelphia axis to preserve his government.
He stressed that Israel is not qualified to fight long wars from a social and economic standpoint, stressing that the war should have ended a long time ago.
Argaman said that Netanyahu's insistence on remaining in the Philadelphia axis aims to preserve his government only, and not Israeli security.
