Russia has invited Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, to attend the BRICS summit, which will be held in the city of Kazan from 22 to 24 October.
This came during Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s meeting, on Monday, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who explained during a press conference in Riyadh that the meeting witnessed a discussion of the bilateral agreements signed between the two countries, and Moscow’s invitation to the Saudi Crown Prince to participate in the summit, pointing to the interest. The group’s activities expanded from 5 to 10 members, and it received requests from other countries to join the group, describing this as “a fundamental driving force for expansion.”
During the press conference, the Russian Foreign Minister praised the positions of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries regarding the crisis in Ukraine, while pointing to Western efforts to defeat his country strategically, drawing attention in the same context to his country’s lack of interest in the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace initiative, which he supports. The West, and that his country is surprised by those who believe this initiative.
He pointed out that the West does not want a fair agreement, but rather wants to defeat Russia, pointing out that the West, led by America, controls international organizations, and uses the dollar as a weapon against his country by imposing sanctions that he described as “illegitimate.” Pointing out that resolving the conflict in Ukraine requires reviewing the roots of the crisis, and the Chinese President’s initiative confirms this.
In another context, the Russian Foreign Minister said, during the press conference he held in Riyadh, that his country is working with all parties to resolve the Palestinian crisis, pointing out that the escalation has turned into a conflict on the Lebanese borders and in the Red Sea, indicating that there are those who want In the outbreak of a large regional war in the Middle East, which he said “must be confronted.”
He referred to the initiatives presented at the United Nations regarding resolving the Palestinian crisis, including his country’s initiative. He also pointed out that Israel ignored the initiative of US President Biden regarding a ceasefire.
He stressed the necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Pointing out that Israel imposes impossible conditions in exchange for the rational initiatives presented by the mediators.
