The Israeli army announced, on Wednesday, that two soldiers were killed and 7 others were injured after an Israeli Air Force helicopter crashed in Rafah, south of Gaza.
The Israeli army said in a statement that the incident was not believed to have been caused by enemy fire, adding that an investigation had been opened into the incident.
The helicopter was on a mission to evacuate an injured soldier for medical treatment, according to the statement.
The Israeli army indicated that the families of the soldiers who died in the incident have been notified, and their names will be revealed to the public at a later time.
The Israeli army said that the injured soldiers were evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.
