Germany expected that the conflict between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah members would turn into a “regional conflagration” and that its outbreak would cause catastrophic destruction.

The German Chancellery noted that “the government is following with deep concern the escalating conflicts in Lebanon and the injury and death of many innocent civilians in recent days.
