Talk about a comprehensive war in the Middle East region has increased in frequency as the conflict has expanded and extended into Lebanon.
The possibility of an all-out war erupting in the Middle East region was warned by US President Joe Biden, today, Wednesday, in an interview with the ABC network, as he explained that “an all-out war may be a realistic possibility.”
Biden added, “However, there is still the possibility of reaching an agreement that could bring about a radical change in the region.”
Biden continued, saying, “There is a possibility, I do not want to exaggerate it, but there is a possibility that if we are able to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon, that will allow us to focus on the West Bank.”
Biden continued his speech to “The View” program, saying, “We must also take care of Gaza (..) but all of that is possible, and I am doing everything I can with my team to achieve this goal.”
The American President had called yesterday for the necessity of finding a diplomatic solution in light of the continued Israeli pressure on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, warning of the danger of an “all-out war” in this country.
In his final speech before the United Nations General Assembly yesterday, Tuesday, Biden pointed out that “the outbreak of an all-out war does not benefit any party, and reaching a diplomatic solution is still an available option.”
For his part, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the risk of escalation in the Middle East is “extreme,” noting that Washington and its allies are working tirelessly to avoid the outbreak of a comprehensive war between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
Blinken added on Wednesday, “With regard to Lebanon, we are working tirelessly with partners to avoid an all-out war and move to a diplomatic process that allows both Israelis and Lebanese to return to their homes.”
He considered that "the risk of escalation in the region is severe," and said that "the best response is diplomacy, and our coordinated efforts are necessary to avoid further escalation."
