Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Saturday, attacked Israel, accusing it of committing “genocide” in Lebanon, and condemned the “brutal attacks” that targeted Hezbollah and claimed the lives of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, and hundreds of civilians.
Erdogan stressed on the “X” platform that “Lebanon and the Lebanese people are the new target of the policy of extermination, occupation and invasion that Israel has implemented since October 7,” without mentioning the killing of Hassan Nasrallah.
The Turkish President added that “no person with a conscience can accept or justify this massacre,” calling for an end to Israel’s “reckless” attempts to expand the conflict throughout the region.
Erdogan accuses Israel of committing "genocide" since the start of the devastating war in Gaza sparked by the unprecedented attack launched by Hamas on Israel on October 7.
Erdogan's statements come hours after the Lebanese Hezbollah announced the killing of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, as a result of the Israeli raid on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Over the past few days, Israel has shifted the focus of its operation from Gaza to Lebanon, where a violent bombing campaign has led to the death of more than 700 people and the displacement of about 118,000.
