Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said on Friday that Israel has just begun a ground war on Gaza and the result will be a humanitarian catastrophe of enormous proportions.
He added during his speech before a special session of the United Nations General Assembly dedicated to voting on a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza that “voting against the draft Arab resolution at the United Nations means approval of this foolish war.”
During the past few hours, Israel has intensified the bombing of the northern Gaza Strip in an unprecedented manner in the war, which ends its third week today, and has also cut off communications from the besieged Strip.
The Israeli army confirmed that it will expand its ground operations tonight.
The American newspaper The Washington Post quoted informed American officials as saying that the administration of President Joe Biden urged Tel Aviv to consider its plans to launch a ground attack.
The White House said earlier today that Washington does not set red lines before Israel.
