UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres called on world leaders, on Friday, to get rid of all the nuclear weapons he described as "deaths", after awarding an anti -weapons organization the Nobel Peace Prize.
Guterres said, in a statement: “The survivors of the two atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki (...) are witnesses to the horrific human cost of nuclear weapons.”
He added: “It is time for world leaders to see nuclear weapons as they are: death devices that do not provide any safety, protection or security. The only way to eliminate the threat of nuclear weapons is to completely eliminate them.”
The Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo was awarded the Japanese "Nihun Heidkio" organization, the Nobel Peace Prize, Friday.
This coronation came thanks to the organization’s efforts, “for and to prove a world free of nuclear weapons, through testimonies, that nuclear weapons should not be used again at all.”
The co -chair of the Japanese anti -nuclear weapons organization, Nihyun Hudaido, considered that nuclear weapons do not achieve peace.
