United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed the commitment of the leaders of the BRICS countries to resolving international issues through diplomatic means and dialogue.
Guterres said during a speech he delivered at the BRICS+ Outreach summit in Kazan today, Thursday: “The countries of the group represent half of the world’s population. I welcome your adherence to values and your support for resolving international issues, which is clearly reflected in your theme this year.”
He stated that the “Future Summit” held last September presented a road map aimed at promoting pluralism, promoting peace, sustainable development and human rights, and identified 4 areas of future work on the levels of finance, climate, technology and peace.
Guterres was subjected to Western criticism, which was reflected in a statement by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, which expressed its “feeling insulted” by him for his participation in the BRICS summit in Russia, describing his choice as “wrong and undermining the reputation of the United Nations.”
Guterres was also listed on the Ukrainian Nazi “Peacemaker” website, which was created in 2014 to identify and publish the personal data of anyone who threatens Ukrainian national security and calls for retribution.
A large number of Russian and Ukrainian peace-demanding figures, whose names were published on the aforementioned website, were subjected to assassinations or assassination attempts in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
