Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani announced on Thursday that his country will host a new round of negotiations on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The Prime Minister of Qatar said, “An American delegation and an Israeli delegation will visit Doha (a specific time has not been announced) to discuss ways to find a breakthrough in the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.”
He added that Qatar is working with Egypt on any initiative that might be put forward regarding the Gaza Strip, stressing that the discussions with the US Secretary of State in Doha are “constructive.”
The Prime Minister of Qatar indicated that his country held “meetings in the last two days with the political office of Hamas in Doha.”
He pointed out that “the discussions with Blinken were constructive and we discussed proposals regarding Gaza, mediation efforts, and the day after Israel’s war in the Strip, in addition to the ceasefire.”
He condemned "the Israeli siege and escalation on northern Gaza and the systematic bombing of hospitals there," calling for an end to the war on Gaza "as soon as possible."
He continued: “There is no justification for targeting journalists in conflict areas, and excuses for this are unacceptable,” stressing that “Al Jazeera (Qatari) channel operates in accordance with the highest international standards for press coverage.”
The Prime Minister of Qatar stressed that Doha “wants to avoid any escalation in the region and we are talking with all parties to contain the situation.”
On Thursday, Blinken arrived in Doha, as part of his eleventh tour in the region since Tel Aviv, with American support, began the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
Despite the continued mediation efforts of Qatar and Egypt for months, and the submission of one agreement proposal after another to end the war on Gaza and exchange prisoners, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to set new conditions that include “continuing control over the Philadelphia border axis between Gaza and Egypt, and the Rafah crossing in Gaza, and preventing... The return of Palestinian faction fighters to northern Gaza (through inspection of returnees through the Netzarim Corridor in the central Gaza Strip).
For its part, Hamas insists on a complete withdrawal of Israel from the Gaza Strip and a complete cessation of the war in order to accept any agreement.
Israel estimates that there are 101 prisoners in the Gaza Strip, while Hamas announced that dozens of prisoners were killed in random Israeli raids.
With American support, since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a genocide in Gaza that left more than 143,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst disasters. Humanity in the world.
Tel Aviv continues its massacres, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end them immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
