The Israeli news channel i24NEWS reported that Cairo warned Tel Aviv against carrying out any military operation in the buffer zone on the Philadelphia Corridor between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
The channel explained that Egypt threatened that the continuation of this matter might lead to the reduction of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Hebrew channel indicated that Egypt has historically been involved as an active diplomatic player in the negotiations between Israel and Hamas, especially during the war, the sparks of which ignited the movement in a deliberate and sudden attack on October 7.
According to the Hebrew channel, Egypt also rejected Israel's apology for mistakenly shooting at an Egyptian border guard post last week.
The Israeli army said that one of its tanks accidentally bombed an Egyptian military site near Kerem Shalom, in the border area with the Gaza Strip, last week, adding that it “expresses its regret about the incident” and the incident will be investigated further.
p>The Israeli channel pointed out that on more than one occasion, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that he would not allow Palestinians to cross into Sinai for fear of being drawn into a war with Israel. Cairo also warned of the possibility of Palestinians entering Sinai from the Gaza Strip. As such, Cairo may take diplomatic measures that would limit relations between the two countries.
