Iran announced the killing of the leader of the Jaish al-Adl, classified as a terrorist, Abd al-Rahim Molazadeh, known as Salahuddin Farouki.
The "Army of Justice" is active on the common border between Iran and Pakistan, and Tehran explained that joint air strikes carried out by the two countries targeted its militants last night.
Iran, Pakistan, and the United States classify the “Army of Justice” organization as a terrorist organization, while the armed organization, which was formed in 2012, engages in violent confrontations with Iranian forces, which usually result in deaths on both sides.
The last attack launched by the organization was last week, when it targeted police forces in the city of Taftan in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran, killing 10 Iranian forces.
Iran announces targeting details
The Iranian Students News Agency, ISNA, quoted a military source as saying: “Last night, Iranian and Pakistani forces launched attacks and raids on the hideouts of the Jaish al-Adl organization, leaving at least 12 dead and a number of wounded, including the group’s leader, Salahuddin Farouki.”
The source added: “Two people from the organization’s first echelon leadership were also killed in the raid, namely Hafez Ibrahim Sabakzai, whose nom de guerre is Hafez Salman, who is the second-in-command in the organization, and Fakir Muhammad Muhammad Zahi, whose nom de guerre is Amir Omar.”
According to the military source, Salman is the head of the intelligence service in the “Army of Justice,” while Amir Omar is responsible for recruitment and military support, noting that “Salman and Omar were targeted by a drone in the Pakistani province of Balochistan.”
The organization issues a statement
For its part, the “Army of Justice” organization issued a statement, confirming that air strikes had targeted its positions in the Pakistani province of Balochistan, confirming the killing of 12 militants and wounding 4 others.
While the organization acknowledged the killing of Hafez Salman and Amir Omar, it did not confirm the killing of its leader, Salah al-Din Faruqi.
The commander of the Army of Justice is Abdul Rahim Mullazadeh, who issues his statements under the name Salah al-Din Farooqi. He was born in 1979 in the city of “Rask” in the Balochistan province in southeastern Iran.
The most prominent attacks by Jaish al-Adl
On October 25, 2013, the group claimed responsibility for the killing of 14 Iranian border guard soldiers in the city of Saravan.
On April 26, 2017, the group announced the killing of at least 9 Iranian border guards and the wounding of two others, in an ambush on the Pakistani-Iranian border.
In December 2018, the group claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in the coastal city of Chabahar, killing two police officers and wounding 42 others.
On February 2, 2019, it claimed responsibility for the attack on a Basij forces base in southeastern Iran, resulting in the death of a soldier.
On April 9, 2024, the group announced an armed attack on two police cars in the Soran-Mehrestan region, resulting in the killing of 6 Iranian police forces.
