Gaza Civil Defense announced today (Saturday) that at least seven Palestinians were killed and 12 others were injured in an Israeli bombing of a school housing displaced people in the Strip, according to Reuters.

An Israeli army spokesman said that the army is investigating this report.

The army had said earlier today that it had targeted Hamas militants inside a school complex in Gaza City, and that it had taken measures to reduce harm to civilians.

Medics reported that among the dead were a woman and her child. It is not yet clear whether the rest of the dead were Hamas fighters.

Hamas denies that its fighters are active where civilians are in Gaza.
