The first comment by the Secretary-General of Hezbollah on the fall of Assad

The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, Naeem Qassem, said on Saturday that the group lost its supply route through Syria after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime about a week ago in a sweeping attack launched by the opposition.
Qassem did not mention Al-Assad by name in his speech broadcast on television, but he said that the group cannot judge the new rulers in Syria before the situation in the country stabilizes.
Qassem added: “We hope that the new rulers of Syria will see Israel as an enemy and not normalize relations with it,” expressing his hope that “coordination will occur between the Syrian and Lebanese peoples and the governments of the two countries.”
The pro-Iranian Hezbollah had supported the ousted president’s regime militarily during the bloody civil war.
Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (classified as a terrorist group by Washington) and its allied factions began a massive attack in November from northern Syria, which enabled them to enter Damascus at dawn on Sunday and announce the overthrow of Assad after 13 years of bloody conflict in the country.
Assad fell after a major Israeli bombing campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon as well as against Iranian targets inside Syria.
