After the fall of Bashar al-Assad, Erdogan visits Egypt to meet with President Sisi

The Turkish presidency announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay an official visit to Egypt on Thursday, December 19, 2024, to attend the eleventh summit meeting of the Organization of Eight Developing Countries (D-8). This visit comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Türkiye and Egypt, and expanding the frameworks of economic and social cooperation between the two countries.
During the summit, which will be held under the title “Investing in Youth, Supporting Small and Medium Enterprises: Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy,” Turkish President Erdogan will deliver a keynote speech highlighting the importance of supporting youth and enhancing the role of small and medium enterprises in building a sustainable and developed economy. His speech will address new strategies for investing in vital sectors and stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship in member states.
The Turkish President will attend a special session dedicated to discussing the current situation in Palestine and Lebanon, where ways to support international efforts to find peaceful solutions to the ongoing conflicts in the region will be discussed. This session aims to enhance cooperation between the member states of the Organization of Eight Developing Countries to confront the security and political challenges facing the Palestinian and Lebanese countries.
During his visit, Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings with the heads of states and governments participating in the summit, where he will exchange ideas on current global and regional issues, especially those related to Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, and Palestine. These meetings aim to enhance joint cooperation and coordinate efforts to confront security and economic challenges in the region.
This is the first summit that Egypt has attended within the Organization of Eight Developing Countries in 24 years, which reflects Egypt's renewed commitment to strengthening its role in international and regional organizations. The conference aims to enhance economic cooperation between member states, exchange experiences in the fields of sustainable development, and support youth projects and entrepreneurship.
