The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported, on Saturday, citing a source as saying that the Joe Biden administration is making efforts to recognize the legitimacy of the new Syrian administration before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
The authority said that the administration of US President Joe Biden is making efforts to declare the new government in Syria, headed by Ahmed Al-Sharaa (Al-Julani), a legitimate government, according to what a source familiar with the matter said.
According to the source, the administration’s goal is to announce this even before Trump enters the White House, to secure international recognition of the new government in Damascus.
According to the Commission, “Until a few weeks ago, the United States allocated a reward of ten million dollars to the head of Al-Sharaa, who was leading the Al-Qaeda branch in Syria. But recently an American delegation visited Damascus and met with him. Al-Sharaa promised the Americans the stability of the political situation.” And he pledged to allow Christians to celebrate Christmas without interference from his supporters.”
The commission pointed out that despite the “smile” with which Al-Sharaa faces the West and the United States, recent days have witnessed friction between the new government and its opponents, including the incident of setting fire to a Christmas tree in the city of Hama.
This comes as the International Coalition forces sent military reinforcements through the Al-Waleed border crossing with the Kurdistan region of Iraq to their bases in the regions of northern and eastern Syria.
The military reinforcements consist of 50 trucks loaded with armored vehicles, military vehicles, and logistical materials.
On December 24, the International Coalition forces brought military, logistical and medical reinforcements and sealed boxes on board trucks to their base at the Koniko gas plant in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder confirmed on December 19 that the number of American soldiers currently present in Syria is estimated at about 2,000 soldiers and not 900 soldiers as previously stated.
After the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, US President Joe Biden warned that the terrorist organization ISIS would try to use any power vacuum in Syria to restore its capabilities, adding, "We will not allow that."
