Kamel Saqr, former director of the media office in the Syrian presidency, revealed many details about the last moments inside the presidential palace before the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime. Saqr confirmed that he was the last person to leave the presidential palace.

Saqr spoke in an interview with the journalist Hussein Al-Sheikh, through the “Mazej” podcast, affiliated with the “Al-Arabiya” network, about his long accompaniment of Bashar al-Assad, his experience of the rapid transformations and major collapse that befell the regime, and Assad’s meetings and movements in his last days before his escape.

He also revealed his monitoring of field developments, changing the course of the war, the seizure of Syrian cities by the opposition factions, his contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and how the latter was ignoring them, and the secrets of his last trip to Russia before his fall, which explain the failure of his attempts to convince His allies.

Saqr also documented the last moments he witnessed from inside the presidential palace of Bashar al-Assad’s escape, the personalities he chose with him, the fate of his brother Maher al-Assad, and what the state of the palace was like after the liberation of Damascus.
