Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced that Baghdad is making efforts to persuade powerful Iraqi armed factions, which participated in the fight against American forces and launched missiles and drones at Israel, to give up their weapons or join the official security forces.
Hussein stressed that the presence of weapons outside the control of the state is unacceptable in Iraq, according to Reuters.
He also indicated Iraq's concern about the organization's activity in Syria, stressing the importance of launching a comprehensive political process there to achieve stability
Hussein added that Iraq seeks good relations with the United States during the era of US President-elect Donald Trump.
