Before the inauguration ceremony.. Trump and Biden arrive at the Capitol

Outgoing US President Joe Biden accompanied President-elect Donald Trump to the US Capitol to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Biden and First Lady Jill Biden welcomed Trump and his wife Melania to the White House.
Trump ignored Biden in 2021 and did not follow the tradition of inviting the president-elect to the White House.
This tradition began in 1837 with Martin Van Buren and Andrew Jackson.
While welcoming Trump during the traditional tea and coffee before taking the oath, Biden responded when asked about his message for the day by saying: “Joy.”
Biden confirmed to reporters that he left a message in the Oval Office for his successor, but when asked about the details, he refused to divulge the details, and said, “This is between me and Trump.”
