The first Saudi comment after Trump requested a trillion dollars in investments

Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal Al-Ibrahim, said on Friday that the $600 billion in investments and expanded trade with the United States includes investments as well as purchases from the public and private sectors.
Ibrahim's statements are the first public comments from a Saudi official after US President Donald Trump urged Saudi Arabia to increase "investments" to one trillion dollars.
The Saudi Press Agency reported, on Thursday, that the Crown Prince confirmed that the Kingdom desires to expand its investments and trade relations with the United States in the next four years by an amount of $600 billion, which is expected to rise if additional opportunities become available.
Ibrahim said at a symposium at the World Economic Forum in Davos when asked whether the Kingdom would increase the number to one trillion dollars, as Trump suggested at the forum yesterday, Thursday, “This number represents investments and purchases from the public and private sectors, and is just a reflection of the strong relationship.”< /p>
Trump said on Thursday, “Saudi Arabia will invest at least $600 billion in America, but I will ask the Crown Prince, who is a wonderful person, to raise the amount to about a trillion dollars.”
Government data showed that the value of US exports of goods to Saudi Arabia was much higher than the value of Saudi foreign direct investment in the United States in the past few years.
He made it clear that the position of Saudi Arabia and OPEC is the stability of the oil market in the long term, when he was asked whether the Kingdom would reduce oil prices after Trump said yesterday, Thursday, that he would ask Saudi Arabia to do so.
Oil prices fell after Trump's statements yesterday, Thursday, but partially recovered today, Friday.
The Saudi minister added, “The Kingdom’s position and OPEC’s position revolve around long-term market stability to ensure that there is enough supply to meet the growing demand,” including from the United States.
He said that the Kingdom will host periodic meetings of the forum starting in the spring of 2026, after hosting a meeting last year.
