Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council, Vasily Nebenzia, expressed his anger and shock at the Israeli occupation army’s bombing of civilian targets in the Gaza Strip.
Nebezia said: “We are shocked and deeply angry at the bombing of civilian targets such as schools, hospitals, mosques and refugee camps. We affirm that attacks on civilian targets constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”
The Russian delegate stressed the need to comply with international humanitarian law, stressing that this “compliance with the laws is imperative, every war has rules.”
He explained that “only a comprehensive ceasefire, and not a short-term cessation, will allow avoiding casualties in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict area, ensure the provision of the necessary humanitarian assistance to those in need, assistance to the residents of Gaza, put an end to the armed confrontation and attract new regional parties to it.” .
He added: “We emphasize the inadmissibility and danger of escalating the conflict. We are convinced that the first step in this direction will be an early ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.”
Nebenzia stressed that the United States’ obstruction of initiatives regarding Gaza can only lead to an escalation of the conflict.
He said: “Washington’s obstruction of peace initiatives aimed at a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip at this stage, and its unilateral position over the past years with the aim of maintaining the status quo, as they formulated themselves, and what is called quiet diplomacy, was in fact a reluctance to implement all What countries and peoples have agreed upon.”
He added: “The failure to achieve any progress on the negotiation process can only lead to an escalation of the situation and an explosion.”
The Israeli occupation war on the Gaza Strip continues on its 35th day since last October 7, as the Israeli occupation continues to bomb the Strip with thousands of tons of explosives, according to the government office in Gaza. A number of relevant countries and international institutions also expressed their fears about the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of victims of the ongoing Israeli occupation bombing had risen to more than 11,078 people, including more than 4,506 children, approximately 3,027 women, and 668 elderly people, while more than 27,000 others were injured.
