Guterres: Gaza's inhabitants out of their land are ethnic cleansing

The Secretary -General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, stressed that it is not possible to return to the fighting and destruction in Gaza, stressing the need to continue the ceasefire in the Strip.
He said in a special interview for Al -Arabiya within the “Diplomatic Street” program that removing the residents of the sector from their land is ethnic cleansing, indicating that the exit of the Palestinians from their lands will make the two -state solution impossible forever.
He also pointed out the importance of the Palestinian Authority to have a role in the Rafah crossing, stressing the need to link the Gaza Strip and the West Bank to the Palestinian Authority.
On the reconstruction of the sector, he stressed that it is now difficult to determine the time and cost of reconstruction.
For its part, the coordinator of the peace process in the Middle East, Sigrid Kakh, told Al -Arabiya that UNRWA is the backbone of the humanitarian efforts, pointing out that when I arrived in Gaza, I felt impotence.
She added that its goal is to security for Israel and the state for the Palestinians, and that there is a historical opportunity to implement the two -state solution.
“Damascus authorities are on the right path”
In another context, Guterres said that the current authorities in Syria are on the right path, but he made it clear that there are things that still worry the United Nations in Syria.
He stressed the importance of there to be a comprehensive transitional process in Syria.
On the Lebanese issue, he expressed his optimism about Lebanon's ability to restore its institutions led by the heads of the new state and the government.
In parallel with that and the Yemeni file, he said that the Houthis should respect workers in international organizations in Yemen, and respect the United Nations, noting that the United Nations is trying to maintain humanitarian aid provided to Yemen.
Guterres added to Al -Arabiya that disrupting navigation in the Red Sea caused several problems to Egypt, and that targeting them for ships did not help the Palestinians.
And in the Sudanese issue, he stressed the need to stop fire and unleash a comprehensive political process.
In the matter of Libyan, he pointed to the need for Libya, who is able to choose its leaders.
