The World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced in a joint statement that, during the 36 days of escalation of fighting, 137 attacks were recorded on medical facilities in the Gaza Strip, leading to the deaths of 521 people.

The statement added: “The world cannot remain silent while hospitals that should have been safe havens turn into places of death, destruction and despair. According to the organizations, more than half of the hospitals in the Gaza Strip are closed, and those that are still operating are “under enormous pressure” and “can only provide very limited services” in emergencies, life-saving surgery, and intensive care.
