US President Donald Trump announced that he had made a "very constructive" phone call with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on Wednesday, and agreed to pay visits and start negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump said in a post on "Truth": "I have just made a very lengthy and constructive phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The call touched on "the great history of our nation and the fact that we fought together with great success in World War II, remembering that Russia lost tens of millions of people, and we lost a lot!
Trump announced that they agreed to "work together, closely, including the visit of each of us to the other country."
They also agreed to stop the deaths that occur in the Ukraine war with the start of negotiations "immediately", and he said that he would contact the President of the Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zellinski, to inform him of the conversation.
Trump asked the Foreign Minister, Marco Rubio, the Director of the CIA, John Ratcliffe, and National Security Adviser, Michael Waltz, Special Envoy, Steve Whitkov, leading these negotiations
Trump said he had a strong feeling of the success of the negotiations, saying that "the war must end. More lives should be wasted."
He thanked Russia's release, Martin Vogel, who received him at the White House, on Tuesday, and said that he hoped that this would be a "beginning of a relationship" to end the war.
The American President had pledged to end the war in Ukraine, in the midst of his campaign.
He affirmed, on Monday, his keenness to ensure the recovery of the United States’s money to help Ukraine in its war against Russia.
Moscow refused, on Wednesday, the exchange of occupied areas with Kiev in the context of any peace agreement that may be reached, after the Ukrainian president presented the idea, on Tuesday.
