Kuwait: Thwarting wide cyber attacks on Etisalat and Banking towers

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior revealed, on Thursday, that widespread cyclone attacks, launched by "an international neurotic formation of Chinese nationality", and targeted communications and banks in the country.
The Kuwaiti Interior said, in a statement, that “in the context of efforts to enhance cybersecurity, the criminal security sector, representative of the Department of Electronic Crime, was able to control an international neurotic formation of Chinese nationality, involved in carrying out extensive cyber attacks targeting some of the communications and banking towers. In the country, "according to the official Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA).
The Ministry affirmed its full commitment to "confronting all those who begged themselves to prejudice the security of the country."
She stressed the importance of strengthening cybersecurity within its strategies to protect the country and society.
The statement explained that "the gang sent fraudulent messages that will imitate the characteristics of banks and communications companies for the purpose of monument and electronic fraud, as well as advanced electronic devices and technical means to analyze the penetrated data."
The Ministry indicated that "the identities of the members of the gang formation were identified and controlled, and it was found that their actual identities do not match the identities used, which revealed their involvement in forgery operations to hide their true identities and hide from the security authorities", without specifying their number
The defendants were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them, according to the same statement.
The Kuwaiti Interior concluded by saying that it "continues to develop its security systems and technologies to keep pace with modern challenges, in a manner that ensures the preservation of stability, data protection, and information from any digital threats."
There was no immediate comment from the Chinese authorities about the content of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior statement.
