Israeli media revealed a sharp decline in Israeli air traffic from Tel Aviv to Taba in the Sinai Peninsula, due to the war in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli website port2port, which specializes in travel and tourism affairs, explained that, according to Egyptian government data, commercial flights to and from Taba International Airport have declined by about 50% since the outbreak of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7.
He explained that in total, 654 aircraft passed through Taba International Airport from the beginning of this year until the end of August 2023.
Taba International Airport is about 37 km away from the city of Taba and about 100 km away from the city of Nuweiba.
The Hebrew website said that the average weekly commercial flights through Taba International Airport had decreased to about 20 weekly flights, compared to about 40 flights before the outbreak of war.
The Israeli website’s report indicated that Taba International Airport is the Egyptian airport most affected by the current events in the Middle East, while air traffic at all other airports in the country remained normal, and it is surprising that they were not affected.
