Emir of Qatar: Israel "did not abide by" the armistice agreement in the Gaza Strip

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, said Thursday that Israel "did not abide by" the armistice agreement in Gaza, which entered into force in January, during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Sheikh Tamim said, "We reached an agreement several months ago, but unfortunately, Israel did not abide by this agreement (...) and we will seek to bring the views of an agreement ending the suffering of the Palestinian people."
Israel, on March 18, violated the ceasefire agreement in Gaza by resuming the bombing and operations in the Palestinian sector, ending a fragile truce that lasted for nearly two months.
And that, the Israeli army intensified its air strikes and expanded its land operations in the besieged and destructive sector, killing at least 1691 Palestinians, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, and the displacement of half a million according to the United Nations estimates.
The Israeli army also announced, on Wednesday, that it had turned about 30 percent of Gaza's area into a buffer zone, while continuing its operations and preventing humanitarian aid to enter the Palestinian sector.
The ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, in which Qatar, Egypt and the United States mediated, entered into force on January 19, 2025, and largely suspended more than 15 months of war after Hamas's unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
Putin praised during his meeting with Sheikh Tamim the "serious efforts of Qatar to resolve the Palestinian -Israeli conflict", and described the death of the dead in this conflict as a "tragedy", adding that "a long -term settlement can only be reached on the basis of the United Nations resolution, and above all, on the basis of the establishment of two states.
