The Israeli army announced on Tuesday that it had recovered the bodies of two Israeli prisoners (a woman and a soldier) who were captured by Hamas on the 7th of last October in the Gaza Strip, through a military operation.
The army said in a statement: “During an operation in Gaza, the bodies of Eden Zacharias and (Soldier) Zev Dadu were found and returned to Israel.”
The statement also indicated that during the operation to recover the two bodies, two Israeli army soldiers were killed and other soldiers were injured.
The army had previously confirmed that one of the hostages, soldier Zev Dadu (36 years old), was killed on the day of the attack launched by Hamas on Israel.
While Eden Zacharia (28 years old) was kidnapped the same day during the Nova Music Festival, during which 364 people were killed and about 40 others were taken captive.
The Prisoners' Families Forum announced that Zacharia "was kidnapped with injuries in the upper half of her body," and that her boyfriend was killed during the attack.
The army did not specify where and when this operation took place.
The Palestinian movement has been detaining 137 Israelis since October 7, taking them from settlements and military bases around the Gaza Strip following its surprise attack at that time.
A week-long truce at the end of November allowed for the release of 105 prisoners from Gaza, including 80 Israelis, in exchange for Israel releasing 240 Palestinian detainees. Those released from both sides were women and children.
