Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority: Maritime traffic in the canal is normal and there are consequences of tension

The head of the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, confirmed today, Sunday, that the authority is closely monitoring the current tension in the Red Sea, as a result of the Houthi terrorist militia’s escalation in targeting commercial ships, with Iranian support.
Rabie said, in a statement reported by the Egyptian media: The Authority is closely monitoring the repercussions of this tension on traffic in the canal, and that maritime traffic in the canal is proceeding normally, stressing that there is a follow-up of the consequences of the current tension in the Red Sea.
The statement added that since November 19, 55 ships changed their course to the Cape of Good Hope, while 2,128 ships crossed the canal in the same period.
This comes as the Houthi militia continues to escalate its terrorist acts by targeting commercial ships passing in the Red Sea, with an Iranian motive, which led to a threat to maritime traffic and prompted four shipping companies to temporarily suspend their commercial activity through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal.
