Armed clashes on Jordan's northern border

A responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces stated that, since the early hours of Monday morning, armed clashes have been taking place between Jordanian border guard forces and armed groups on the northern border of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and within the area of responsibility of the Eastern Military District, as these results The clashes so far have resulted in thwarting the smuggling of large quantities of drugs and automatic and missile weapons.
The source confirmed that the armed groups are now being expelled into Syria, while a number of injuries have occurred among members of the Jordanian border guard forces, and their health condition is between light and moderate.
The source explained that the past few days have witnessed an increase in the number of these operations and their transformation from infiltration and smuggling attempts into armed clashes, with the aim of crossing the border and forcefully by targeting border guard forces.
The source stated that these clashes are a continuation of what these armed groups have been doing for days, which resulted in the killing of a number of smugglers, the arrest of one of them, the martyrdom of a member of the armed forces, and the injury of another.
The source stressed that the armed forces are following the movements of these groups and their attempts to destabilize national security, and will do everything necessary to deter and pursue them wherever they are.
