Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad is sworn in as Emir of Kuwait

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who assumed power to succeed his brother, the late Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Haber Al-Sabah, took the oath before the National Assembly today, Wednesday.
Prince Nawaf died last Saturday.
The Speaker of the National Assembly invited the members of the Council to attend a special session held at the request of the government, this morning, where the new Emir of the country, Sheikh Meshaal, took the constitutional oath.
Article 60 of the Kuwaiti Constitution stipulates that “before exercising his powers, in a special session of the National Assembly, the Emir shall take the following oath: “I swear by Almighty God that I will respect the Constitution and the laws of the state, defend the people’s freedoms, interests, and money, and safeguard the independence of the nation and the integrity of its lands.” .
