Al-Burhan added, in statements reported by the Sudanese Agency, that the armed forces “will remain cohesive, strong, and Sudan’s safety valve,” and that they will eliminate the “Rapid Support” forces.
Regarding the recent events in the Wad Madani area in Al-Jazeera State in central Sudan, and the control of the Rapid Support Forces over it, Al-Burhan said: “What happened in Madani in the Al-Jazeera State, every negligent and negligent person will be held accountable, and there is no courtesy in that,” according to what was reported. «Arab World News Agency».
Al-Burhan continued: “We reassure the citizens that the army will fight to the last soldier, so that the people of Sudan will enjoy security and stability, and the armed forces will not fall,” and threatened that everyone who cooperated with the “Rapid Support” forces “will pay the price for their cooperation.”
Residents in the city of Wad Madani, the capital of Gezira State, said that communications services have gradually begun to return.
Afnan Muhammad, who lives in the city, said that the “Zain Sudan” network only gradually returned. She added to the Arab World News Agency: “The situation in the city is somewhat calm, but we hear sounds of gunfire from time to time.”
Afnan complains of a water and electricity outage two days ago, in addition to a scarcity of food commodities due to the closure of markets and stores.
Wide parts of the city of Wad Madani and other cities in the country have witnessed, since yesterday, Wednesday, a complete interruption of communications and Internet services.
In conjunction with the communications outage, there were reports of the army returning to the city, and clashes erupting with the “Rapid Support” in the streets of the city, near the army headquarters.
The army had said, on Tuesday, that its forces had withdrawn from the headquarters of the First Division in the city of Wad Madani, hours after the Rapid Support Forces announced control of the city, including the army headquarters and the government secretariat, and the army stated that it would conduct an investigation. ; To know the circumstances of the withdrawal.
The disruption of communication and the Internet imposed a massive blackout on events, especially in the conflict areas in the capital, Khartoum, and the Kordofan and Darfur regions.
For more than a month, the cities of the Darfur region, west of the country, have been living in isolation from the world, due to the interruption of communications networks and the Internet, and the population’s replacement with satellite Internet networks, which are available on a limited basis in some cafes and markets.
Telecommunications and Internet services in Sudan cover three networks: “MTN Sudan,” “Zain Sudan,” and “Sudani,” in addition to the “Canar” network, which provides Internet services only.
