The Director General of the Jordanian "Arab Bridge" Company, Adnan Al-Abadla, announced today, Saturday, the operation of the Arab line for land and sea transport between the Jordanian port of Aqaba and the Egyptian ports on the Mediterranean, as an alternative to the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandab Strait.
The Jordanian newspaper "Al-Ghad" reported that the announcement of the new line comes after a number of major shipping companies announced the suspension of their operations in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
Al-Abadla confirmed that the “Arab Bridge” company hastened to complete the international and technical requirements necessary to operate the alternative line between the Jordanian and Egyptian ports overlooking the Mediterranean, given the importance of the alternative Arab land and sea line to the Kingdom in terms of providing an alternative path for transporting Jordanian exports destined for the United States. The United States and Europe, especially exports from qualified industrial zones and agricultural products, and linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean by land, which diversifies the routes of trade exchanges and reduces the cost of transportation.
Al-Abadla explained that the shipping time for transporting containers from the qualified industrial zones in the Kingdom to the United States of America for transit through Egyptian ports will range between 18 to 20 days only, with the lowest costs and highest safety rates.
