On Wednesday, China called on all parties to exercise restraint, stop the escalation in the Red Sea, and respect the sovereignty of Yemen.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that his country does not want to see an escalation in the situation, saying, “The Red Sea is an important international trade channel, and we do not want to see an escalation of tension.”
He added, “We call on all parties to exercise restraint, stop harassing civilian ships, and respect Yemen’s sovereignty.”
China's statements came in conjunction with the escalation of attacks and tension in the Red Sea, and the intention of the European Union, the United States and Britain to launch a large-scale military operation for what they say is to secure ships and protect navigation.
