The office of the head of the Hamas movement said that Ismail Haniyeh held a discussion with the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad movement, Ziad al-Nakhalah, regarding initiatives to end the aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The office added that Haniyeh and Al-Nakhalah stressed that any negotiations must lead to an end to the aggression, the withdrawal of the occupation army, and the completion of an integrated exchange deal.
Haaretz newspaper quoted an official in the Israeli Camp party as saying: If we get the impression that Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejects the deal for political considerations, we will withdraw from the government.
Previously, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari said that Israel had agreed to the ceasefire proposal, pointing out that Doha had initial positive confirmation from Hamas, according to what Al Jazeera reported in an urgent statement.
Al-Ansari pointed out that the Paris meeting reached a proposal that was presented to the Israeli side, indicating that Doha is awaiting Hamas’ response to it
Al-Ansari explained that the basis of the Paris proposal relates to the nature of the upcoming humanitarian truce and that work is still underway on some details, stressing the need to push strongly to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
