Israeli Channel 13 reported, on Saturday, that disagreements had occurred in the war council between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy regarding the upcoming Israeli operation in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
The channel said that Netanyahu asked the Chief of Staff to re-enlist any reserve officers who were dismissed, for the benefit of the upcoming military operation.
She indicated that the Chief of Staff responded by saying: “We will know how to deal with any mission assigned to us - but there are political aspects here that must be implemented before the operation, and these are matters that no one can deal with except the political level. We need to decide what to do.” With 1.3 million Gazans present in Rafah, as well as coordinating the issue at the political level with the Egyptians.”
