The official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, stated that it is unfortunate and disgraceful that Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich continues to make irresponsible and inflammatory statements.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman explained that these statements only reveal a hunger for killing and destruction, and sabotage any attempt to contain the crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Abu Zeid considered that such statements are completely unacceptable, as Egypt has complete control over its territory, and does not allow any party to involve Egypt’s name in any failed attempt to justify its shortcomings.
The Hebrew newspaper "Haaretz" said on Monday that Smotrich pointed the finger at Egypt for what happened on October 7.
The Israeli minister said that Hamas's ammunition supplies largely pass through Egypt, saying that Cairo bears great responsibility for what happened on October 7th.
It is noteworthy that Smotrich also directed sharp criticism at Egypt in December for allowing huge amounts of ammunition to enter Gaza in the past.
The Israeli minister at the time demanded that Egypt allow the residents of Gaza to pass through the Egyptian border so that they could immigrate to other countries.
