Russian President Vladimir Putin said, during the plenary session of the "Future Technologies" Forum held in Moscow, that Russian scientists are close to producing effective vaccines to cure cancer.
Putin explained that Russia "is close to producing vaccines for cancer patients and a new generation of immunomodulatory drugs, as a total of 530 drugs have been registered locally in 2023 thanks to scientists and doctors."
He added: “We are on the verge of creating so-called anti-vaccines to treat cancer patients and a new generation of immunomodulatory drugs, and I hope that they will soon be used effectively as methods of individual treatment.”
Putin stressed: “Of course there are many exciting discoveries now, and we look forward to such discoveries in the future.”
Putin indicated readiness to confront any challenges, including the threat of new global epidemics.
According to the World Cancer Research Fund, as of 2020, this disease had been recorded in 18 million people, including 9.3 million cases in men, and 8.8 million in women.
The Foundation describes the prevention of this disease as one of the most serious health problems in the twenty-first century, as it ranks second in the world on the list of causes of death.
