Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed on Saturday evening that the Israeli army must carry out its operation in the city of Rafah, which is crowded with about 1.4 million Palestinians in the southern Gaza Strip, because failure to do so would mean “losing the war” against Hamas.< /p>
Netanyahu also confirmed in a press conference in Jerusalem that the Rafah operation will be implemented even if an agreement is reached with Hamas to release the hostages who are still in the Gaza Strip.
In addition, the Israeli Prime Minister said that he sent negotiators to the truce talks in Cairo, at the request of US President Joe Biden, but they did not return to complete other talks because Hamas’s demands are a kind of “fantasy.”
He added that there is no point in continuing the negotiations unless Hamas changes its demands.
Netanyahu continued in a statement to reporters that an expanded diplomatic agreement with the Palestinians cannot be concluded except through direct negotiations without any preconditions.
