Palestinian Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Majdalani, commented on the resignation of the Palestinian government, represented by its Prime Minister, Muhammad Shtayyeh, today, Monday.
Majdalani said in an interview with “Sputnik” agency that the government’s submission of its resignation came 5 years after its formation and in light of the important changes that occurred in the situation during the past few months, specifically the genocidal war in Gaza.
He added, "This government faced many difficulties and challenges, especially with the continuation of the Israeli war in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, which led to the emergence of an international trend to support the establishment of a single national authority over all Palestinian lands in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem."
He explained that “this trend and the unity of the international position focused on the necessity of opening a new political path to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine and establish the independent state.”
Majdalani considered that “this new phase that the international community as well as the Arab countries are talking about requires the presence of a new Palestinian government with different components.”
