Earlier today, Tuesday, the Cairo Channel reported, citing high-level security sources, that the Egyptian Air Force carried out an airdrop of urgent humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, with the participation of Jordan and the UAE.
The sources, which the channel did not name, explained that there was an Egyptian air bridge to drop 50 tons of urgent humanitarian aid in the northern and central Gaza Strip, confirming that 45 tons of food and relief aid were dropped in the northern and central Gaza Strip, with the participation of the Emiratis and Jordanians.
The sources added that Egypt is intensifying its efforts, by land and air, to relieve the stricken areas north of the Gaza Strip and supply them with urgent aid, while Egypt is preparing to establish a field hospital inside the Strip, which includes equipped operating rooms. It has also taken the necessary measures to establish a third shelter camp for the displaced north of Deir al-Balah Governorate inside Gaza.
The war that has been continuing for more than 4 months has led to the death of 29,782 Palestinians, most of them children and women, according to the local Ministry of Health in the besieged Strip.
It also caused a stifling humanitarian crisis during which the vast majority of the Gaza Strip’s population faces the threat of “mass starvation,” according to the United Nations.
On the Israeli side, the Hamas attack led to the death of 1,200 Israelis, according to the Israeli government. The movement detained about 250 people, and Israel says 130 of them are still detained in the Gaza Strip, and 31 of them are believed to have died.
For his part, US President Joe Biden said that it was possible to reach a ceasefire early next week, to which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by saying that it was a surprising statement.
