Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevy, announced today, Monday, a series of changes in senior military positions for the first time since the surprise attack launched by Hamas on October 7th.
The army said in a statement that a new commander had been appointed for the multi-tasking unit to replace Roy Levy, who was killed in the October 7 attacks, and new commanders had been appointed for the Golani Brigade, the Southern Brigade of the Gaza Division, and the 1st Brigade.
The list includes three senior commanders with the rank of brigadier general, 11 new commanders with the rank of colonel, in addition to 26 others who were transferred between units at the same rank.
The appointments included dozens of positions within the ranks of the army, in addition to other positions in military attachés in a number of countries around the world, according to the army statement.
The statement explained that the appointments are awaiting the approval of Defense Minister Yoav Galant to take effect.
