Arab media reported on Tuesday evening that about 60 missiles were fired from Lebanon towards Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee.
Israeli media reported that dozens of missiles fired from Lebanon at Kiryat Shmona were intercepted.
This escalation comes within a series of tensions taking place on the Lebanese front between Hezbollah and Israel, which increased in intensity following the war in Gaza.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said on Tuesday that the ongoing tension with the Hezbollah group on the border with Lebanon has brought matters closer to military escalation.
He added in a statement following his meeting with the US special envoy to Lebanon, Amos Hockstein: “We are committed to the diplomatic process, but Hezbollah’s aggression brings us closer to a critical point in making a decision regarding military activities towards Lebanon.”
The Gaza war broke out when Hamas launched an attack on October 7th against Israel, which it said had killed 1,200 people and taken 253 hostages.
