The head of the Egyptian Information Service, Diaa Rashwan, said that there is an American proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip from one week to two weeks, but not with the same conditions as the first truce.
He stated that the ceasefire would not be accompanied by a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
He added during television statements: “During this period, continuous meetings will be held to reach a final formula for a truce with full conditions, which serves as a break for negotiation to revise a deal between the two parties.”
He continued, saying: “We are in the month of Ramadan, and it is possible that the situation in the West Bank will deteriorate in light of the continuing violations by the Israeli occupation forces, so the idea of a temporary break sends a message of a ceasefire during the month of Ramadan.”
It is noteworthy that the ceasefire discussions in the Gaza Strip returned during the month of Ramadan to the corridors of the mediators again, coinciding with the end of the first two days of the holy month.
An official Hamas source said that the movement had received an international offer for an extended ceasefire in Gaza, noting that the movement had expressed its approval for it.
