Qasim Ahmed Ruble, spokesman for the Somali police, announced that at least 6 people were killed following an attack by Al-Shabaab in Somalia, on a hotel near the presidential palace in Mogadishu.
A suicide bomber drove a car with explosive devices in front of the building, and then Al-Shabaab fighters stormed the hotel, popular among the city's political elite.
Eyewitnesses said that bullets were fired in the building and the surrounding area, and a helicopter was flying low above it, and it is believed that terrorists are still inside the building.
Robel added: “As far as I know, a terrorist, three hotel security guards and two members of the security service were killed in the attack.”
A security forces spokesman said that about 10 were injured, including a member of the Somali parliament.
The hotel has been the target of many attacks by Al-Shabaab in the past, even though it is in an area subject to a high level of security, as its location is opposite the presidential palace.
For its part, Somali television confirmed on the X platform that Somali security forces “neutralized” the perpetrators of the attack on a famous hotel in the capital, Mogadishu, which the attackers stormed yesterday evening, Thursday.
