Israeli reports revealed today, Wednesday, that Israeli government spokesman Elon Levy has been suspended from work, due to his comments on social media about humanitarian aid to Gaza, which angered British Foreign Secretary David Cameron.
The Israeli Channel 12 reported that the British Foreign Office filed a complaint against Levy after he commented on a post by Cameron.
In a post dated March 8, the chief British diplomat urged Israel to “allow more trucks to enter Gaza as the fastest way to deliver aid to those who need it.”
Levy, who works as an English spokesperson for the Israeli government, responded to the post by confirming that Israeli crossings have sufficient capacity to accommodate aid heading to Gaza.
Levy said in response to Cameron, in a since-deleted post on the X website: “I hope you are also aware that there are no restrictions on the entry of food, water, medicine or shelter equipment into Gaza, and in fact the crossings have capacity.” Excessive absorption
He added: “We tested... Send another 100 trucks daily to the Kerem Shalom border crossing and we will bring them in.”
In addition, Levy criticized the United Nations over aid distribution, considering that Israel provides faster access for aid to Gaza.
These responses prompted the British Foreign Office to write to the Israeli government, asking whether the “critical of Cameron” post reflected Israel’s official position.
Accordingly, the Israeli spokesman was suspended from his work shortly after.
