In his first comment on the Ankara attack, Erdogan stressed that terrorist organizations will never achieve their goal, and said that his country needs appropriate time and conditions to intervene militarily again to strike militants on its southern border. The militants vowed that “they must remember that we may come to them by surprise.”
Erdogan pointed out that Turkey had established a security fence on the southern border with a depth of 30 kilometers to ensure its security, and that “when conditions are appropriate, we will intervene militarily again to strike the terrorists in their homes.”
Regarding the relationship with the European Union, he said that his country fulfilled its pledges to the European Union, but it did not adhere to its pledges in return. He stressed that Turkey will not make new concessions to join it, and Ankara has no objection if the Union decides to cancel Turkey's membership project. He added: “We do not need European Union membership.”
On the other hand, the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) announced today (Sunday) its responsibility for the terrorist attack that targeted the General Directorate of Security of the Turkish Ministry of the Interior in the capital, Ankara.
