Hundreds of police officers
It is noteworthy that the New York Police intervened intensively on Tuesday evening at Columbia University, the center of pro-Palestinian student demonstrations, to remove students who had been holed up in a building since Monday night.
Dozens or even hundreds of police officers entered the university campus, equipped with riot control equipment, and supported by a military vehicle equipped with a ladder.
Policemen wearing helmets also climbed the stairs and entered through one of the windows into the Hamilton Hall building, where the students were holed up.
A wave is rising
According to Agence France-Presse, police officers took dozens of people to police buses to arrest them.
For its part, the American media confirmed that the police removed all the demonstrators from the university campus.
It is noteworthy that a wave of student protests has been rising for two weeks in major American universities from California in the west to the northeastern states, passing through the central and southern states such as Texas and Arizona, in solidarity with Gaza and demanding an end to the Israeli war.
Student demonstrators across the country also called on universities to cut financial ties with Israel and divest from companies they say are aiding the conflict and fueling the war.
