At least 210 Palestinians were martyred and about 400 others were injured in Israeli raids on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza on Saturday, according to the government media office in the Gaza Strip, which is run by the Hamas movement.
The Israeli army previously announced in a statement that during a “difficult special operation during the day in Nuseirat, four Israeli hostages were liberated.”
Before announcing the liberation of the hostages, the Israeli army said on Saturday that it was targeting combat “infrastructure” in the Nuseirat sector, while witnesses reported bombardment by drones and helicopters on the camp.
For his part, the spokesman for the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah near Nuseirat, Doctor Khalil Al-Dakran, announced that 15 martyrs had been killed in intense Israeli strikes, which also left dozens wounded.
Violent battles are taking place between the army and Palestinian fighters in the neighboring Bureij and Maghazi camps, according to what witnesses reported.
In recent days, the Israeli strikes have focused on the central Gaza Strip, especially the Nuseirat camp, where one of these raids on Thursday targeted an UNRWA school, killing 37 people, according to a local hospital.
