The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, said in a video clip posted on its Telegram channel on Sunday that three hostages were killed, including an American citizen, in the Israeli military operation yesterday, during which some detainees were released.
The Al-Qassam Brigades stated: “We inform you that in exchange for these, your army killed three prisoners in the same camp, one of whom held American citizenship.”
She added, “Your prisoners will not be released unless our prisoners are liberated, and time is running out (...) Your government is killing a number of your prisoners to save other prisoners.”
On Saturday, the spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, Abu Ubaida, said that some hostages were killed in the Israeli operation to free detainees in the Nuseirat camp and adjacent areas in central Gaza.
In a post on the Telegram platform, Al-Qassam spokesman said, “The enemy was able, by committing horrific massacres, to free some of its prisoners, but at the same time it killed some of them during the operation.”
He described what the Israeli forces did in the Nuseirat camp as a crime and that the Israeli prisoners were the first to be harmed.
He added, “What the Zionist enemy carried out in the Nuseirat area in the middle of the Gaza Strip is a complex war crime, and the first to be harmed by it were its prisoners, but at the same time it killed some of them during the operation,” noting that “the operation will pose a great danger to the enemy’s prisoners and will have a negative impact.” on their circumstances and their lives,” as he put it.
On the other hand, Israel denied that it killed hostages in the operation it carried out in the Nuseirat camp.
Hamas announced that 210 people were killed in Israeli attacks on the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, from where Israel recovered four hostages.
The office said in a statement that “the number of victims of the Israeli occupation massacre in the Nuseirat camp rose to 210 martyrs and more than 400 wounded, and they arrived at two hospitals, Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah.”
This came after the Israeli army announced that it was able to release four hostages in Nuseirat on Saturday, in an operation it said took place “under fire.” Before that, the army said that it was targeting combat “infrastructure” in Nuseirat.
In response to this, the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, said in a statement that “the Palestinian people in Gaza will not surrender, and the resistance will continue to defend our rights in the face of this criminal enemy.”
The Hamas government announced in a previous statement that 94 people were killed in Nuseirat and its environs, noting that these were the ones who were transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, which “is no longer able” to absorb the numbers of martyrs and wounded. It appealed to the international community and relief organizations to provide Help.
